What is gyudon?

My favorite way to eat
My favorite way to eat it is by adding these onions. It’s called “Negi daku.” Negi daku means adding onions, and I can taste the sweetness of many onions.I think these onions are unique to Yoshinoya’s gyudon. Yoshinoya’s gyudon onions are crunchy and sweet, so delicious.

This is”beni-shoga.” Ginger pickled in red plum vinegar goes incredibly well with gyudon. Yoshinoya’s beni-shoga has the natural taste of ginger, so it is spicy, but it goes well with their simple gyudon.The taste of beni-shoga has different characteristics depending on the gyudon chain.

Yoshinoya offers gyudon in various sizes, from small to XXL. The medium includes 250g of rice and 90g of meat, costing ¥468(about $3).

Oh…How cheap….One of the reasons is why gyudon has been loved for a long time in Japan.

　

How to order

At Yoshinoya, you usually order face-to-face. Some stores have a touch panel ordering system, but… You have to try to order in Japanese. Then, hang in there!!!

 Don’t worry—some Japanese people are so kind. But some stores have a touch-panel ordering system, which is available in English.
